Compensation: $16.50 to $19.37 Weekend News Anchor/Reporter Bristol, VA, United States WCYB/WEMT has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Weekend News Anchor/Reporter. We are looking for a strong journalist who can lead weekend newscasts with credibility, connect with viewers, and deliver meaningful stories across television, digital, social, and streaming platforms. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent news judgment, a clear understanding of current events, and a passion for enterprise reporting. You should be able to dig for stories, conduct thorough research, write with clarity and edge, and use compelling storytelling and strong television production to make each story impactful and memorable. Dynamic live television and reporting skills are essential.

Responsibilities: Anchor and help produce weekend newscasts Report, shoot, write, and edit news stories for broadcast, digital, social, and streaming platforms Develop and pitch original, enterprise story ideas daily Deliver live reports and breaking-news coverage as needed Research, write, and present stories that are accurate, engaging, and relevant to the Tri-Cities community Maintain an active and professional social media presence to build your brand, promote stories, and connect with viewers Collaborate with producers, photographers, assignment editors, and the newsroom team to deliver high-quality coverage Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours during breaking news or severe weather Perform other duties as assigned by news management

Qualifications &

Skills: Previous anchoring experience is required At least one year of on-air reporting experience is required Live-shot experience is required Strong writing, verbal communication, and on-camera presentation skills Demonstrated ability to develop stories and tell them creatively across platforms Sound editorial judgment, strong research skills, and a commitment to journalistic ethics Ability to work independently while contributing positively in a collaborative newsroom environment A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required The base hourly compensation range for this role is $16.50 to $19.37. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
